Washington, DC—Senator Jeff Bingaman, Chairman of the Senate Energy Committee, and Kateri Callahan, President of the Alliance to Save Energy, held a press conference call today to discuss Democrats’ energy bill that will protect consumers, lower gas prices, break our addiction to oil, begin to reverse global warming and create jobs by investing in renewable energy.
“This is a very good bill that will help American consumers while allowing us to meet our future energy needs in an environmentally responsible way,” Bingaman said. “It’s my hope we can get the broad support for this bill that it deserves.”
Said Callahan: “The Nation urgently needs action by Congress on pending energy legislation that not only promises relief for American consumers who are reeling from spiraling energy prices, but also takes ‘dead center aim’ at global climate change by significantly lowering CO2 emissions through deployment of energy efficiency. “Enactment of H.R. 6 is a ‘win-win-win’ for our economy, our environment and our national energy security, and there is no better Christmas present that Congress could give the American public than passage of this historic energy efficiency legislation.”
