Washington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today on the floor of the U.S. Senate regarding Senator Edward Kennedy, who was hospitalized this weekend:
“We were all concerned to learn that Senator Kennedy was hospitalized on Saturday. Since that time, we have heard only encouraging words from his doctors and family. He is resting comfortably and appears to be doing just fine.
“I have spoken several times with his wife, Vickie. She tells me that Senator Kennedy is watching movies and Red Sox games. It can’t hurt his recovery that they have won three games in a row.
“Anyone who knows Ted Kennedy and his work ethic realizes that no one is more eager to get back to work than him. So to my good friend from Massachusetts I say, rest up and get well. All of your friends and colleagues in the Senate wish you the best and look forward to your quick return.”
