Morning Business for 1 hour with the time equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees, with the Majority controlling the first half and the Republicans controlling the final half. Senators will be permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.
Following morning business, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume post-cloture debate on the nomination of Patricia Smith to be Solicitor for the Department of Labor. The post-cloture debate time will count over night, during morning business and any recess.
The Senate will recess from 12:30 until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus luncheons.
We hope to be in a position tomorrow to yield back some of the post-cloture debate time so that we may proceed to vote on confirmation of the Smith nomination at a reasonable hour tomorrow.
As a reminder, Senate Reid also filed cloture on the nomination of Martha Johnson to be administrator of general services. That cloture vote will occur immediately following disposition of the Smith nomination.
