Washington, DC—Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today after the Senate voted to end debate and move forward on Wall Street accountability legislation:
“Today millions in Nevada and across America are closer than ever to being protected from the Wall Street greed that cost middle-class families their homes, their jobs and their retirement savings. I am pleased that we were able to move forward on this bill and take another important step toward holding Wall Street accountable.
“The bill that we introduced a month ago was strong, and we have worked hard in recent weeks to make it even stronger. I commend those reasonable Republicans who voted to move this bill forward, but am disappointed at those who voted to allow business as usual on Wall Street. I am hopeful that as we move to final passage more Republicans will support this bill and work with us to end unregulated greed on Wall Street.”
