Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today after the White House announced the resignation of Rahm Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff. The President announced that Pete Rouse will serve as interim White House Chief of Staff:
“Rahm Emanuel has been an invaluable, effective leader of President Obama’s team, helping to set the right course for this Administration. Rahm was instrumental in executing every piece of President Obama’s agenda over these first two years, and I have enjoyed his friendship and support. I send Rahm and his family my most sincere best wishes and continued success in their return to Chicago and all of their future endeavors.
“I have worked very closely with Pete Rouse for over 20 years during his time with Senator Daschle. I have always admired and appreciated his low-key manner, dedication to public service, and common-sense approach to problem solving. I am confident that he will serve the President well as White House Chief of Staff.”
