Senate Democrats

Final Legislative Work Period of 111th Congress

The Senate is back in session this week with a full plate on its hands.

This afternoon the Chamber will receive a visit from Vice President Biden, who will swear-in Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Chris Coons of Delaware, who were winners in special elections to fill the remaining terms of vacant Senate seats.

On Tuesday Senate Democrats will elect leadership members of their Caucus, including Majority Leader, Whip, Vice-Chair and Conference Secretary.

On Wednesday the Senate will kick off the legislative session with a cloture vote on the Promoting Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles Act of 2010. We also hope to consider the Paycheck Fairness Act and FDA Food Safety & Modernization Act.
