Reid: Justice Realized For Black Farmers And Native American Trust Account Holders After Years Of Discrimination And Mismanagement

Washington, D.C. — Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today after President Obama signed into law the Cobell/Pigford settlement agreements, which compensates black farmers and Native American trust account holders for past discrimination and mismanagement:

“With the signing of this law, countless black farmers and Native American trust account holders can finally rest assured that justice has been served.  It is impossible to undo the past, but this bipartisan measure closes a chapter by providing amends to those wronged by years of discrimination and mismanagement. I am pleased that Democrats and Republicans were able to come together and do the right thing by standing up for these deserving Americans and their families.”
