The Senate stands adjourned until 11:00am on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the motion to proceed to Calendar #365, H.R.7888, to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978.

 

Senators should be at their desks on the Senate floor at 1:00pm for a live quorum. Once a quorum is established, the Senate will proceed to consideration of the articles of impeachment against Alejandro N. Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security. Senator Grassley will administer the oath to the President Pro Tempore, Senator Murray. Senator Murray will administer the oath to all Senators in the Chamber in conformance with Article I, section 3, clause 6 of the Constitution, and the Senate's impeachment rules. The Clerk will call the names in groups of 4, and Senators will present themselves at the desk to sign the oath book.

 

The Sergeant at Arms will make the proclamation: Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! All persons are commanded to keep silence, on pain of imprisonment, while the House of Representatives is exhibiting to the Senate of the United States the article of impeachment against Alejandro N. Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security.

 

Roll call votes are expected in relation to the impeachment trial on Wednesday afternoon. Another message will be sent when more information is available.

 

During Tuesday’s session, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the motion to proceed to Calendar #365, H.R.7888, to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978.
