Established by an Act of Congress in 1947, the Democratic Policy
Committee (DPC) is the policy and research arm of the Senate Democratic
Leadership.
It also serves as a centralized source of information
for all Senate Democratic offices and helps promote the Democratic
message through its publications and graphics services. The DPC
provides services to individual Senate offices, committee offices,
and the Senate Democratic Leadership.
The Democratic Policy Committee supports, coordinates, and advises Senate Democratic offices by:
- monitoring and analyzing pending legislation;
- providing timely information on floor action, including bills and amendments under consideration;
- organizing briefings and strategy meetings to discuss legislation and amendments;
- developing Legislative Bulletins, Special Reports, Fact Sheets and Talking Points on legislation, policy issues and Democratic initiatives;
- tracking and compiling voting information, which is made available to Senate offices;
- hosting luncheons, seminars, and conferences for Senators;
- organizing hearings and site visits both on Capitol Hill and in Senators' home states;
- responding to Senator and staff inquiries; and
- providing access to all its materials on the web.
