Mission Accomplished?
Four years after President Bush declared "mission accomplished," Americans from all parts of the country continue to bear the burden of the President's flawed Iraq policies. More than 3,300 American servicemen and women have been killed, and more than 24,000 have been wounded. Across the country, veterans are struggling to access the health care they need, and National Guard troops are facing shortfalls in equipment and manpower to respond to domestic emergencies. Extended deployments are causing families in every state to face prolonged separations from their loved ones, and small businesses are struggling as their owners and employees serve multiple tours in Iraq. November 21, 2009:
The Senate will convene at 9:45 a.m. and will resume debate on the motion to proceed to HR 3509, the legislative vehicle for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009. At 8:00 p.m., the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 2590.
