Senate Floor Schedule For Thursday, February 04, 2010
Following any Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and debate the nomination of Patricia Smith to be Solicitor for the Department of Labor. There will be up to 20 minutes for debate prior to a vote on confirmation on the nomination.
Upon disposition of the Smith nomination, the Senate will consider the nomination of Martha Johnson to be Administrator of the GSA, with 2 hours for debate equally divided and controlled between the Leaders or their designees. Upon the use or yielding back of time, the Senate will proceed to a cloture vote on the Johnson nomination. If cloture is invoked, all post-cloture debate time will be yielded back and the Senate would immediately proceed to vote on confirmation of the nomination.
Today Senator Reid asked that the following nominations be confirmed by unanimous consent:
Clifford L. Stanley, of Pennsylvania, to be Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness;
Philip S. Goldberg, of the District of Columbia, to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Intelligence and Research); and
Caryn Wagner, of Virginia, to be Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis, Department of Homeland Security.
Senator McConnell objected to the request. He said that Senator Shelby is talking to the Administration about an issue.
Upon disposition of the Johnson nomination, the Senate will proceed to a period of morning business with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.

Tonight, Senator Reid filed cloture on the nomination of Craig Becker, of Illinois, to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board for the term of 5 years expiring December 16, 2014.
We also reached an agreement to vote on confirmation of the nomination of Joseph Greenaway, of New Jersey, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit, at 5pm on Monday, February 8.
As a result of the agreement, there will be 2 roll call votes beginning at approximately 5:00pm Monday in relation to the following nominations:
Confirmation of the nomination of Joseph Greenaway, of New Jersey, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit; and - Cloture on the nomination of Craig Becker, of Illinois, to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board.
