Senate proceeds to H.J.Res.40

Senator McConnell moved to proceed to H.J.Res.40, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Social Security Administration relating to Implementation of NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007.

There will now be up to ten hours of debate, equally divided between proponents and opponents. An adoption vote is expected later today, the time is still to be determined.

Today is the intervening day on the six cloture petitions filed yesterday. Tomorrow, one hour after convening, the Senate will vote on cloture on the Mulvaney (OMB) nomination.
