Schedule for Wednesday, March 1, 2017

The Senate is in recess until 8:25pm tonight and upon reconvening will proceed as a body to the Hall of the House of Representatives for the Joint Session of Congress for President Trump's address.

Upon dissolution of the joint session, the Senate will stand adjourned until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

Following any Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of the nomination of Ryan Zinke to be Secretary of the Interior, post-cloture, with 20 minutes of debate equally divided followed by a vote on confirmation.

Upon disposition of the Zinke nomination, there will be up to 10 minutes of debate followed by a vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Ben Carson to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. If cloture is invoked, time will be counted as if invoked at 1:00 a.m. that morning.

 

As a reminder, Senator McConnell has also filed cloture on the following cabinet nomination: James Richard Perry (Secretary of Energy). The cloture petition will ripen upon disposition of the previous nomination (Carson) and is subject to 30 hours of post-cloture debate.
