Cloture filed on Coats/McMaster nominations; Senate proceeds to H.J.Res.42

Senator McConnell filed cloture on Executive Calendar #23, Dan Coats, to be Director of National Intelligence and Executive Calendar #19, Herbert McMaster Jr., to be Lieutenant General. Tomorrow, Tuesday, is the intervening day and the cloture motion on the Coats nomination will ripen on the next legislative day (Wednesday).

Senator McConnell then moved to proceed to H.J.Res.42, disapproving the rule submitted by the Department of Labor relating to drug testing of unemployment compensation applicants. There will be up to 10 hours of debate equally divided followed by a vote on passage of the joint resolution.
