The Senate has resumed consideration of the nomination of John Sullivan to be Deputy Secretary of State, post-cloture. At 3:00pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Sullivan nomination. Upon disposition of the Sullivan nomination, there would be an immediate cloture vote on the Thapar nomination to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit.
If cloture is invoked on the Thapar nomination, there would be up to 30 hours of debate on the nomination. We expect that vote to occur around lunch time tomorrow.
