Agreement on S.J.Res.37, EPA mercury and other air toxins rule

The Senate has reached an agreement to consider S.J.Res.37, a joint resolution of disapproving a rule promulgated by the EPA relating to limiting mercury and other toxic air pollution from certain electricity generating units. There will be 2 hours for debate following the votes tomorrow night, two hours Wednesday morning, and a vote on the motion to proceed at 12:30 on Wednesday. The agreement is as follows:

 

On Tuesday, June 19^th, at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader after consultation with the Republican Leader, the Republican Leader, or his designee, be recognized to move to proceed to the consideration of S.J.Res.37, a joint resolution disapproving a rule promulgated by the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency relating to emission standards for certain steam generating units; that there be up to four hours of debate on the motion to proceed, with the time equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders, or their designees; further, that two hours of debate, equally divided, occur on Tuesday, June 19^th and the Senate resume consideration of the motion to proceed at 10:30am, Wednesday, June 20^th, for the remaining two hours of debate; that at 12:30pm on Wednesday, the Senate proceed to vote on the adoption of the motion to proceed; that if the motion is successful, then the time for debate with respect to the joint resolution be equally divided between the two Leaders, or their designees; that upon the use or yielding back of time, the joint resolution be read a third time and the Senate proceed to vote on passage of the joint resolution; finally, all other provisions of the statute governing consideration of the joint resolution remain in effect.
