Senate Floor Schedule For Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Proceed to Impeachment proceedings of of Samuel B. Kent, a judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. At approximately 10:00am, the Senate will conduct a live quorum call. Senators are encouraged to be in the chamber and seated at their desk at 10:00am. When a quorum is ascertained, the Senate will receive the House managers, who will deliver the articles of impeachment. Senators will then be sworn in as a body in order to proceed with the impeachment proceedings. Upon the swearing in, senators are required to sign the Secretary's impeachment book which will be at the Desk. The Senate will then consider 2 resolutions with respect to the impeachment by consent.
Following the impeachment proceedings, the Senate will turn to Executive session and will resume consideration of Harold Koh to be Legal Advisor of the Department of State, with the time until 11:00am equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees. At 11:00am, the Senate will proceed to vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination. The Senate is in Executive Session considering the nomination of Harold Koh, post cloture.
