Newsom (11th Circuit), Kaplan (NLRB), Wray (FBI), other nominations, Veterans Choice and FDA
The Senate has convened and resumed consideration of Executive Calendar #172, Kevin Newsom, of Alabama, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit, post-cloture.. Yesterday, Senator McConnell filed cloture on Executive Calendar #175, Marvin Kaplan, of Kansas, to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. Today, the Senate completed the Rule 14 process to place H.R.3219, Defense Consolidated appropriations, to place the bill on the Legislative Calendar of Business. The Senate also adopted S.Res.237, Legal Counsel.
During leader remarks, Senator McConnell said he wants to complete action on the Newsom (11th Circuit), Kaplan (NLRB), Wray (FBI), many other nominations and consider the Veterans Choice and FDA user-fee legislation this work period. Another message will be sent when any votes are scheduled. Senators are asked to keep their schedules flexible as votes are scheduled on these items.
