Cloture filed on amendment to defund Planned Parenthood and CR through Dec. 11, 2016--cloture vote thursday afternoon

Cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.2685, Defense Appropriations, was not invoked by a vote of 54-42.

Senator McConnell withdrew the motion to proceed to H.R.36, Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

The Senate then resumed consideration of H.J.Res.61. By voice votes, the pending Iran nuclear agreement resolution of disapproval (SA #2640) and tree-filler amendments were tabled. Senator McConnell then offered substitute amendment #2669 (to defund Planned Parenthood/Continuing Resolution through December 11, 2016) and re-filled the amendment tree with date change amendments.

Senator McConnell then filed cloture on McConnell amendment #2669 (defund Planned Parenthood/Continuing Resolution through December 11, 2016). That cloture vote is expected to occur Thursday afternoon at a time to be determined, possibly in the 2:00pm range.

The Senate stands in recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
