- Adopted S.Res.318, supporting "Lights On Afterschool", a national celebration of afterschool programs
- Adopted S. Res.319, Commemorating 40 years of membership by women in the National FFA.
- The Senate confirmed the following nominations by unanimous consent:
- William Sessions to be Chair of the U.S. Senatencing Commission;
- William Spriggs to be an Assistant Secretary of Labor;
- Joseph Main to be Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health;
- Jose Antonio Garcia to be Director of the Office of Minority Economic Impact;
- Marcia McNutt to be Director of teh U.S. Geological Survey; and
