Reid Statement On Senate Confirmation Of Dozens Of Nominations

Washington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today after striking a deal for the U.S. Senate confirmation of dozens of pending nominations.  The list of nominations is attached (pdf):

“The Senate last night confirmed a long list of important nominations, including Steven C. Preston to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; Elisebeth Cook to be Assistant Attorney General; Paul Schneider to be Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security; several ambassadors to nations around the world; and all pending Army, Navy, Air Force and Foreign Service nominations. After the White House and Senate Republicans refused to approve a package as planned before the Memorial Day recess, I am pleased that they have finally come to the table so we can name these well-qualified public servants to the distinguished positions for which they have been nominated.”
