Reid: Minimum Wage Increase Will Help Lift American Families And Businesses

Washington, DCSenate Majority Leader Harry Reid released the following statement today in recognition of the increase in the federal minimum wage from $6.55 to $7.25 an hour:
“America is stronger when working families are thriving.  In 2007, the Democratic Congress listened to the American people and voted to increase the federal minimum wage for the first time in a decade.  Today we will give 4 million Americans a well-deserved, much-needed raise that has the potential to inject $5 billion of spending into the economy. That means more money for families’ everyday needs, more income and opportunity for small businesses, and greater confidence in our economy.”
