REID STATEMENT ON EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI   Washington, D.C.—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released the following statement this afternoon regarding the recent earthquake in Haiti:   “I am saddened by the destruction caused by the devastating earthquake in Haiti last night.  I know that the American people grieve with the people of Haiti, and Haitian-Americans, as they cope with this tragedy.  So many lives have been lost and we know that many more will be affected.    “I am pleased that President Obama has committed U.S. resources to help the people of Haiti rebuild their lives and their country and the Senate will work with the Administration to make sure that we get the necessary assistance to Haiti.
