Washington, DC — Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today after the Senate voted to pass a Continuing Resolution to temporarily fund the government:
“I am glad we avoided a potential government shutdown and were able to come to a short-term agreement on a Continuing Resolution. But it is a shame that Republicans have shirked their duty to responsibly fund the government, and kicked this can down the road instead.
“Because of Republican gridlock, we are only providing the American people with partial solutions to addressing our budget challenges and funding critical services. They are shortchanging our defense, homeland security, and veterans.
“Next year, Republicans must decide whether they want to get serious about addressing our budget challenges, or just continue playing politics.”
