DPCC Releases State-By-State Breakdown Of Jobs Lost Under Extreme Gop Spending Plan

GOP’s Drastic Cuts Would Cost 700,000 U.S. Jobs At A Time When Our Economy Can Least Afford It

Analysis Shows Where Irresponsible and Irrational Cuts Would Hit Home

Washington, DC—Today the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee released a state-by-state breakdown of the 700,000 jobs that would be lost under Republicans’ extreme spending plan.

“At a time when job creation should be issue number one, the spending bill passed by the House would reduce employment by 700,000 and deal a body blow to the nation’s fragile recovery,” said Sen. Charles E. Schumer, DPCC Chairman. “This is not an abstract argument, but a fight for the economic well-being of middle class families across the country, and this map shows exactly how House Republican’s irresponsible cuts will hit home.”   The House Republican spending plan would cost almost 46,000 jobs in Schumer’s home state of New York alone. Republicans’ plan would hurt efforts to out-build, out-educate and out-innovate our competitors in the world economy.   As the economy continues to recover from the deepest recession in a generation, we cannot afford to make indiscriminate, ideological cuts that would cost jobs and jeopardize public safety. The reckless Republican spending plan would do just that.   View the state-by-state breakdown here:
