2 votes at 5pm--confirmation of Engel and cloture on Robb

The Senate has reached an agreement that results in 2 roll call votes at 5:00pm tonight. At 4:30pm, there will be 30 minutes of debate equally divided. Upon the use or yielding back of time, there will be a vote on confirmation of the Engel nomination. Then, there will be a cloture vote on the Robb nomination. If cloture is invoked on the Robb nomination, there would be up to 30 hours of post-cloture debate prior to a vote on confirmation.

5:00pm today—2 roll call votes:

1)      Confirmation of Executive Calendar #107, Steven Andrew Engel, of the District of Columbia, to be an Assistant Attorney General;

--2 minutes for debate equally divided--

2)      Cloture on Executive Calendar #384, Peter B. Robb, of Vermont, to be General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board.

As a reminder, Senator McConnell also filed cloture on the following nominations:

1.      Executive Calendar #407, William L. Wehrum, of Delaware, to be an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency

2.      Executive Calendar #159, Derek Kan, of California, to be Under Secretary of Transportation
