The Senate stands adjourned until
10:00am on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will
resume consideration of Executive Calendar
#836, Mark Jeremy Bennett, of Hawaii, to be United States Circuit Judge for the
Ninth Circuit, post-cloture.
The Senate will
recess from 12:30pm until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
At 2:15pm, the
Senate will vote on confirmation of the Bennett nomination.
Prior to the recess, cloture was also filed on
the Executive Calendar #639, Brian Allen Benczkowski (Assistant AG) and
Executive Calendar #686, Paul C. Ney, Jr. (General Counsel, DoD). Those
nominations will also be considered this week. If cloture is invoked on a
nomination, the Senate will begin to burn up to 30 hours of post-cloture time
prior to a confirmation vote and then the ripening of the next cloture
petition. If cloture is not invoked on a nomination, the Senate will
immediately vote on the next cloture petition.
