The Senate stands
adjourned to convene for a pro forma session at 11:00am on Monday, December 24,
2018.
When the Senate
adjourns on Monday, it will next convene at 4:00pm on Thursday, December 27,
2018.
On Thursday,
following leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of the House
Message to accompany H.R.695, the House-passed CR.
We remain at a standstill
until an agreement on appropriations is reached between the leadership of both
houses and the president. A vote will not be called until an agreement is
reached. Members will be notified at that time (whenever it may be) and will have
24-hour notice before a roll call vote is called.
Senator McConnell’s floor
remarks from this afternoon:
MR. McCONNELL:
SO, MR. PRESIDENT, HERE'S WHERE WE ARE. THE
SENATE WILL NEXT MEET FOR A PRO FORMA SESSION ON MONDAY, THAT'S
THE 24th.
AS I SAID EARLIER TODAY WHEN WE OPENED, I'M GLAD THAT
PRODUCTIVE DISCUSSIONS ARE CONTINUING. WHEN THESE NEGOTIATIONS
PRODUCE A SOLUTION THAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO ALL PARTIES, WHICH
MEANS 60 VOTES IN THE SENATE, A MAJORITY IN THE HOUSE, AND A
PRESIDENTIAL SIGNATURE, AT THAT POINT WE WILL TAKE IT UP ON THE
SENATE FLOOR. SENATORS WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN A VOTE IS
SCHEDULED, AND IN THE MEANTIME, THE DISCUSSIONS AND
NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE.
