The Senate stands adjourned until 3:00pm on Monday, September 23, 2019.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #417, Brian McGuire, of New York, to be a Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury. At 5:30pm, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the McGuire nomination.
During Thursday’s session, Senator McConnell filed cloture on the following nominations:
1. Executive Calendar #176, Joseph Cella, of Michigan, to be Ambassador to Fiji and to serve concurrently and without additional compensation as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Kiribati, the Republic of Nauru, the Kingdom of Tonga, and Tuvalu.
2. Executive Calendar #367, Daniel Jorjani, of Kentucky, to be Solicitor of the Department of the Interior.
3. Executive Calendar #292, of North Dakota, to be Deputy Commissioner of Social Security for a term expiring January 19, 2025.
In addition to nominations, next week we expect to consider the motions to instruct re: NDAA,
the Emergency Designation Termination, and the Continuing Resolution.
