The Senate stands adjourned until 10:30am on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Calendar #58, S.1260, United States Innovation and Competition Act of 2021.

 

At 12:00 Noon, there will be a vote in relation to Sullivan amendment #1911 (universities). The Senate will then recess following the vote until 2:15pm.

 

At 2:30pm, the Senate will vote in relation to Durbin amendment #2014 and Kennedy amendment #1710. Discussions are ongoing with respect to consideration of additional amendments to S.1260. Roll call votes in relation to additional amendments are possible during Wednesday’s session.

 

During Tuesday’s session of the Senate, Senator Schumer filed cloture on Schumer substitute amendment #1502 and on the underlying bill. Absent an agreement, the cloture vote on the substitute amendment would occur one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday. If cloture is invoked, there would then be up to 30 hours of post cloture debate time followed by a vote on adoption of the substitute amendment and on the motion to invoke cloture on the S.1260, as amended, if amended.

 

As a result of cloture having been filed, the filing deadline for 1st degree amendments is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26th. The filing deadline for 2nd degree amendments is 1 hour prior to the cloture vote, if cloture is invoked.

 

Cloture was also filed on the motion to proceed to Calendar #60, H.R.3233, to establish the National Commission to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol Complex, as well as on the following nominations: Executive Calendar #111, Anton Hajjar, of Maryland, to be Governor of the United States Postal Service and Executive Calendar #134, Eric Lander, of Massachusetts, to be Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.

 

Absent an agreement, the cloture motions will ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on Thursday in the order filed.

 

Cloture has been filed on the following:

1.      Schumer substitute amendment #1502;

2.      Calendar #58, S.1260, United States Innovation and Competition Act of 2021;

3.      Motion to proceed to Calendar #60, H.R.3233, to establish the National Commission to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol Complex;

4.      Executive Calendar #111, Anton Hajjar, of Maryland, to be Governor of the United States Postal Service; and

5.      Executive Calendar #134, Eric Lander, of Massachusetts, to be Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
