The Senate
stands adjourned until 10:00am on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and resume consideration of Executive Calendar #195, Kenneth Allen Polite, Jr., of Louisiana, to be an Assistant Attorney General.
At 11:30am, the Senate will vote on the motions to invoke cloture on the Polite nomination and on Executive Calendar #246, Jennifer Ann Abruzzo, of New York, to be General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board.
Following the Abruzzo cloture vote, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
If cloture is invoked on the Polite nomination, at approximately 2:30pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination.
If cloture is invoked on the Abruzzo nomination, the confirmation vote will occur at a time to be determined on Wednesday.
During Tuesday’s session, we expect to execute the agreement with respect to H.R.1652 VOCA. That would result in 2 roll call votes on the following:
1. Toomey amendment #2121 (re: appropriations/point of order)
2. Passage of H.R.1652, VOCA (60 vote threshold)
During Monday’s session, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the following:
1. Executive Calendar #142, Bonnie D. Jenkins, of New York, to be Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security
2. Motion to proceed to Calendar #100, H.R.3684, INVEST in America Act (vehicle for the bipartisan infrastructure framework).
