The Senate
stands adjourned until 10:00am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of Executive Calendar #708 Ann Claire Phillips, of Virginia, to be Administrator of the Maritime Administration, post-cloture.
At approximately 11:45am, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Phillips nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #773 Asmeret Asefaw Berhe, of California, to be Director of the Office of Science, Department of Energy.
Following the cloture vote, the Senate will recess until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
If cloture is invoked on the Berhe nomination, at approximately 2:30pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, we expect that Senator Schumer will move to reconsider Executive Calendar #844 Lisa DeNell Cook, of Michigan, to be a Member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and a roll call vote on cloture on the nomination upon reconsideration.
If the motion is made and cloture is invoked on the Cook nomination upon reconsideration, there will be up to 2 hours of debate prior to a vote on confirmation of the nomination.
Additional roll call votes are possible during Tuesday’s session.
During Monday’s session, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the following items:
1. Executive Calendar #848 Alvaro M. Bedoya, of Maryland, to be a Federal Trade Commissioner
2. Calendar #362, S.4132, Women’s Health Protection Act
3. Executive Calendar #865 Julia Ruth Gordon, of Maryland, to be an Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
These motions will ripen on Wednesday.
