The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session to resume consideration of Executive Calendar #265 Vernon D. Oliver, of Connecticut, to be United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut, post-cloture.
At approximately 11:30am all post-cloture time will be expired and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Oliver nomination, followed by a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #37, Rita F. Lin, of California, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California.
The Senate will then recess until 2:15pm to allow for weekly caucus meetings.
If cloture is invoked on the Lin nomination, at 2:15pm all post-cloture time will be expired and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination. Upon disposition of the Lin nomination, the Senate will resume legislative session and the consideration of H.R. 4366, the legislative vehicle for MilCon VA/Agriculture/THUD appropriations.
This afternoon Senator Murray made a motion to suspend rule XVI with respect to Murray substitute amendment #1092 (MilCon VA/Ag/THUD) to H.R. 4366, and filed cloture on the motion. Under the rule the cloture motion would ripen one hour after the Senate convenes on Wednesday. Senators will be notified when the vote is scheduled.
