The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #506 Adrienne Jennings Noti, of the District of Columbia, to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for the term of fifteen years.
At approximately 11:45am the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the Noti nomination.
If cloture is invoked on the Noti nomination, the Senate will then resume Legislative Session to consider S.3853, Radiation Exposure Compensation Reauthorization Act. At approximately 2:15pm the bill will be considered read a third time and the Senate will vote on passage of the bill, with 60-affirmative votes required for passage.
Upon disposition of S. 2853, all post-cloture time on the Noti nomination will be considered expired and the Senate will vote on confirmation of the nomination.
During Wednesday’s Session, the Chair laid before the Senate the message from the House of Representatives with respect to H.R. 4366, Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. Senator Schumer then filled the tree and filed cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R. 4366. Under the rule cloture will ripen 1 hour after the Senate convenes on Friday.
As a result of cloture having been filed, the filing deadline for first degree amendments to the House message is 1:00pm Thursday, March 7. The second degree filing deadline will be 1 hour prior to the cloture vote if cloture is invoked.
On Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 9:00pm, the President of the United States will deliver the State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress. Senators should plan to gather in the Senate Chamber at 8:20pm and will proceed to the House Chamber at 8:25pm.
