The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

 

Following Leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.

 

At approximately 11:00am, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #1 John Ratcliffe, of Texas, to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

 

If cloture is invoked, there will be up to 2 hours of debate. Following the use or yielding back of time, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Ratcliffe nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #3 Peter Hegseth, of Tennessee, to be Secretary of Defense.

 

If cloture is invoked, there are up to 30 hours of debate prior to a vote on confirmation of the Hegseth nomination.

 

Additional votes are possible during Thursday’s session.

1.      Executive Calendar #1 John Ratcliffe, of Texas, to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency

2.      Executive Calendar #3 Peter Hegseth, of Tennessee, to be Secretary of Defense

3.      Executive Calendar #4 Krisi Noem, of South Dakota, to be Secretary of Homeland Security

4.      Executive Calendar #5 Scott Bessent, of South Carolina, to be Secretary of the Treasury
