The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Following Leader remarks, the Senate will resume consideration of Executive Calendar #3 Peter Hegseth, of Tennessee, to be Secretary of Defense, post-cloture.
Absent an agreement and if all time is used, at approximately 9:00pm, the Senate will vote on confirmation of the Hegseth nomination. Following disposition of the nomination, the Senate will vote on the motion to invoke cloture on Executive Calendar #4 Krisi Noem, of South Dakota, to be Secretary of Homeland Security.
Procedural votes are possible during the period of post-cloture debate during Friday’s session.
Senator Thune has filed cloture on the following nominations:

2. Executive Calendar #5 Scott Bessent, of South Carolina, to be Secretary of the Treasury

4. Motion to proceed to Calendar #3, H.R.23, Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act
