President Trump was Briefed on How Deadly COVID-19 is, but Minimized the Dangers to the Public.
Because of his Lies and Inaction, We’ve Lost Nearly 200,000 Americans.
Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) today released a report putting President Trump’s remarks on the COVID-19 pandemic up against the number of cases and deaths occurring in the United States. This week, we learned that President Trump has been purposely concealing the serious threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. This report shows how his remarks minimized the threat as cases rose in the United States.
The report can be found here.
For example, President Trump reportedly knew the coronavirus was airborne and deadly. “This is deadly stuff,” he professed behind the scenes. Publicly, he told a completely different story. By March 7, President Trump knew the coronavirus was a threat to people of all ages, including children: “It’s not just old, older. Young people too, plenty of young people.” But all summer, he demanded schools reopen, telling the American people that children were “almost immune.”
