Schumer, Pelosi Joint Statement on Congressional Review Act Legislation Making Saving for Retirement Harder for Millions of Americans

Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following joint statement on Congressional Review Act legislation gutting a federal rule designed to encourage states to set up retirement accounts for millions of private-sector employees:

“With Congressional Republicans determined to pass a bill to end retirement savings for millions of American workers, President Trump now has a golden opportunity to deliver on his campaign promise and help working people instead of the special interests in Washington.  We strongly urge the President to veto the bill if it is passed by the Senate today, which would show he really did mean it when he said he understood the plight of the American worker.  If President Trump vetoes this misguided bill, Democrats in Congress will stand by him and ensure the veto is sustained."
