Schumer Statement in Response to New Report on Rep. Mulvaney Exposes Failure To Pay Personal Taxes

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer released the following statement on a new NYT report detailing OMB Director nominee Rep. Mick Mulvaney’s failure to pay more than $15,000 in payroll taxes.

“When other previous cabinet nominees failed to pay their fair share in taxes, Senate Republicans forced those nominees to withdraw from consideration. If failure to pay taxes was disqualifying for Democratic nominees, then the same should be true for Republican nominees.”
