Schumer Statement on GOP’s Health Care Sabotage Effort Leading Blue Cross Blue Shield to Leave Market in Missouri and Kansas

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer released the below statement following the announcement that Blue Cross Blue Shield decided to not offer or renew individual Affordable Care Act plans in Missouri and Kansas:

“Once again, we are seeing the real world effect of the Republican effort to sabotage our health care system. The Administration’s attempt to hold hostage cost sharing reduction payments combined with Republican efforts in Congress to dismantle our health care system are causing health care costs to skyrocket, while threatening to leave millions more uninsured.

“The Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress should drop their dangerous attempts to sabotage health care for millions of Americans, and instead work with Democrats to improve our health care system.”
