Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today spoke on the Senate floor on the Senate voting on bipartisan legislation that will fix a funding issue in the continuing resolution, in order to support D.C. firefighters, law enforcement, and teachers. Below are Senator Schumer’s remarks, which can also be viewed here:

Before we finish today, I would like to say that soon, the Senate will vote on a bipartisan piece of legislation that will make an important D.C. funding fix.

This legislation will make sure that we take care of the residents of the district. It will support law enforcement and firefighters and teachers and basic city services. This legislation is very good news for the residents of the District of Columbia. I am happy we are passing this bill today.

I thank my colleagues for working quickly to bring this bill to the floor. Once the Senate acts, we urge the House to act quickly.
