Leader Schumer Floor Remarks On Trump’s Dangerously Unqualified Nominee, Kash Patel, To Be FBI Director

Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today spoke on the Senate floor on the nomination of Kash Patel to be FBI Director after the FBI provided the Justice Department with a list of thousands of names of the employees involved in the January 6th investigation for the sole purpose of political retribution. Below are Senator Schumer’s remarks, which can also be viewed here:

Yesterday, the FBI handed over to the Justice Department a list of thousands – thousands – of employees involved in the January 6th investigation. These actions have political retribution written all over them, and it will get worse if Kash Patel is named FBI director.

The Senate should not rubberstamp a patently partisan nominee like Kash Patel to lead the FBI.

I join the Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee. I’m demanding a second hearing of Mr. Patel. He clearly withheld information from Senators about plans for political retribution within the FBI.

Either Mr. Patel serves the interests of the American people or serves the interests of Donald Trump, which, of course, all too often diverge.
