Majority Leader Schumer Floor Remarks On Today’s Bipartisan AI Insight Forums

Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today spoke on the Senate floor on today’s two bipartisan AI Insight Forum’s dealing with doomsday scenarios and national security respectively. Below are Senator Schumer’s remarks, which can also be viewed here:

Today, we’ll continue our work on AI with our eighth and ninth bipartisan AI Insight Forums.

The morning’s Insight Forum will begin at 10:30 A.M. and focus on the long-term risks associated with AI, and how we can guard against AI doomsday scenarios.

This afternoon’s Insight Forum will begin at 3:00 P.M. and focus on one of the most critical and urgent areas of AI: national security. We’ll discuss the opportunities AI presents to bolster our national security, and the risks if we fall behind the Chinese government.
