Following Senate Judiciary Committee Passage of Protect Mueller Bill Schumer Urges Leader McConnell to Immediately Bring Bill to Floor for a Vote

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer released the following statement after the Senate Judiciary Committee passed legislation to protect Special Counsel Mueller and the president said this morning that he “may change my mind at some point” with regards to interfering in the special counsel’s investigation:

“Given President Trump’s statement just this morning that he may interfere with the special counsel’s investigation, it’s become even more of an imperative that Leader McConnell put this bill on the Senate floor for a vote immediately. Rather than waiting for a constitutional crisis, the full Senate should act now.

“I applaud Chairman Grassley, Ranking Member Feinstein as well as the bill’s lead sponsors Senators Coons, Booker, Graham and Tillis for their dedication and hard work to bring this bill over the finish line in committee and ensure its core goals were preserved.”
