Leader Schumer Statement Applauding HHS For Heeding His Call To Provide Relief To Impacted Health Care Providers And Protect Patients Following Nationwide Healthcare Cyberattack

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services announced a response to the massive cyberattack on Change Healthcare. Leader Schumer sent a letter to CMS calling for an all hands on deck approach to make sure that healthcare providers can be paid and process patient insurance claims, to avoid reductions in patient care.

“I am pleased to see that the Department of Health and Human Services heeded my call and will get cash flowing to providers as our health care system continues to reel from this cyberattack. This is an encouraging step, but the work cannot stop until all affected providers have sufficient financial stability to weather this storm and continue serving their patients. I will work daily with the administration and providers as this situation evolves.”
