Leader Schumer Statement On Trump’s Removal Of Two Democratic Credit Union Watchdogs

New York, NY – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s firing of two Democratic members of the National Credit Union Administration Board:

“Credit Unions are a central part of community banking across America. By illegally firing two Senate-confirmed Democratic National Credit Union Administration board members, Donald Trump is threatening the stability of the Main Street credit unions American families and small businesses rely on. This decision means independent watchdogs are no longer able to provide protection for trillions of dollars of assets belonging to working families and small businesses. While Senate Republicans continue to look the other way as Donald Trump blows through guardrails to benefit wealthy special interests, Democrats are committed to fighting for what’s best for American families.”
