Washington, D.C.–Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today spoke on the Senate floor regarding his upcoming meeting with General CQ Brown, the nominee for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Below are Senator Schumer’s remarks, which can also be viewed here:
Later this morning, I will be meeting with General CQ Brown, President Biden’s nominee for the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
General Brown is exceptionally qualified to serve as the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and will be an important advisor to the president on military decisions and operations.
General Brown’s nomination would normally pass with consent, without cloture needed.
I want to hear this morning from General Brown about the damaging impact that Senator Tuberville’s holds on senior military promotions is having on our national security and military readiness.
