Majority Leader Schumer Statement On Confirming President Biden’s Nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

New York, NY – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement after the confirmation of all three nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):

“This week, the Senate protected access to affordable, reliable, and safe energy for all Americans.

“The Senate confirmed three nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in the nick of time.

“FERC ensures the rates for electricity remain just and reasonable. It regulates the transmission of power across state lines. It ensures our power grid is safe and reliable. But, FERC was on the precipice of losing a quorum, which would create a backlog, and slow down new projects that power our homes and communities.

“This little known but vital agency is keeping our critical infrastructure running while expanding access to clean and affordable energy. I am heartened to see that the Senate could confirm these nominees with bipartisan cooperation and I look forward to working with the full slate of FERC commissioners to advance transmission reform.”
