Majority Leader Schumer Statement On Democrats Delivering Lower Prescription Drugs Prices For Seniors Thanks To The Inflation Reduction Act

New York, N.Y. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on the announcement by the Biden-Harris Administration of landmark price negotiations to reduce the cost of medications for millions of Americans:

“Today’s announcement is a huge, long-sought-after breakthrough for American families. For decades, the American people wanted fair negotiations with Big Pharma, and because of the IRA, they got it.

“Now the American people are seeing the results.  Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, soon, millions of American seniors will keep more money in their pockets as they realize the savings on some of the most expensive and widely used prescription drugs.

“Two years ago, Senate Democrats, along with the Biden-Harris Administration, took on Big Pharma – and won. With the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Senate Democrats made good on our promise to lower costs and fight back against years of drug companies’ steep price increases.
