Majority Leader Schumer Statement On President Biden’s Successful Counterterrorism Strike And The Death Of Ayman al-Zawahiri

Washington, D.C. –  Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement following President Biden’s announcement of the death of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in a successful U.S. counterterrorism air strike:

“Hats off to President Biden for this decisive action that brings final justice to a loathsome mass murderer. America has taken Ayman al-Zawahiri – the ruthless leader of Al-Qaeda and a perpetrator behind the 9/11 attacks – off the battlefield. This is a major accomplishment by President Biden to bring to justice one of the world’s most wanted terrorists who helped orchestrate the cold-blooded murder of thousands of my fellow New Yorkers on 9/11.”

“Americans are grateful for the skill and bravery of our dedicated intelligence community, service members, and diplomats, who work day and night to keep Americans safe.
